Elementary Theatre Workshop

This one week long program will consist of various theatre aspects. Students will receive a role on the first day and then begin working on a script. They will learn choreography, vocal technique and acting skills. Instruction will be by a theatre professional, along with an assistant. Final performance will be on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
Instructed by McKale Jude Bingham.

Middle School Theatre Workshop

This program is designed for 6th, 7th and 8th graders who have had some theatre experience or are looking for an opportunity to break into this art. Roles and scripts will be given out the first day. High School Theatre Intensive

Looking for one last opportunity before school starts to have fun with your friends and do a little theatre? Here’s your chance to participate in a week long program geared towards high schoolers who love theatre. Instruction will be by a theatre professional. Students will be contacted in advance with syllabus for pre-class work. They will be asked to be off book and prepare, a 90 second monologue and 16 & 32 bar cuts of a contemporary musical piece. All will be their choice.

Summer Dance Camp

Try out our summer dance camp, the mini season prequel to our full fall dance program. Each week we will learn dancing techniques and have fun practicing routines! Classes held at Palmer Park.

Macramé class

Master the art of macramé and practice the fundamental knots that can be used to create decorative and functional shapes! Each participant gets to create a modern macramé decoration with chunky wooden dowel, cotton rope, and beautiful brass rings. Class fee includes all necessary materials and beginners are welcome!

Seasonal Silk Floral

Learn to design flowers in a fun and relaxing atmosphere under the tutelage of expert floral designer Jane McPhedrain of Mary Maxim. Learn a new skill that will help you liven up your parties and family gatherings. In this class you’ll be guided to create a beautiful wreath and small faux floral arrangement!

MI Great Lakes Art Series

Explore the natural wonders of our beautiful lakeshore as we gather items around the beach. We’ll combine these with provided art supplies to make your own unique creations. The first day is spent combing the beach to collect necessary items. Then come back the second day to complete your project. Classes are located under the pavilion of Lighthouse Park in Port Huron.

Playgrounds

Hey kids, enjoy your summer day playing outside! These programs are structured to get kids outside for play at a playground near you. Have fun with themed games, activities and crafts. Lunch is provided by the Meet Up and Eat Up PHASD program. A parent or parent-trusted adult must be responsible for signing children in and out each day. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE. Program will include swimming at the Court Street Pool. Scholarships are available. (Program runs – weather permitting)

Junior Recreators Program

Are you 12 – 15 years old and looking for something different to do this summer? With the help of the Dr. James C. Acheson foundation, we are able to provide an opportunity for you to learn crucial job skills. Help out our community and earn rewards while having fun through this volunteer program. Your first step is to complete the Junior Recreator application after May 1st. Once we receive your application, a meeting will be scheduled with you and your parents. Once we’ve set up your summer schedule you will get started on your summer fun! Free Program

Nature in the City

Does your child love spending time outdoors? Then this camp is for you! Is your child not exactly excited about being outdoors? Then this camp is also for you!! ALL children will love this hands-on approach to experiencing nature and discovering what is living right here in their own neighborhood parks. Each day will be new and exciting with short walks, sharing sessions and nature games in a different location. See below for more information. Spend some time with our volunteer stewards and junior recreators learning how Friends of the St. Clair River manages the Blue Water River Walk, then get your hands dirty as we search for awesome aquatic creatures in the wetlands.

Wednesday: Beach Ecology
Lighthouse Park/Beach
Explore the beach and learn about the Great Lakes ecosystem while you gather items to make your own creative expressions.

Thursday: Forest Ecology
Sanborn Park Forest Trail
Uncover the secrets of the forest. This small park in the middle of the city is teeming with life! Dig in the soil and look to the sky to discover the layers of life in the woods.
