American Sign Language

(All Ages Welcome)
Tuesdays, June 19, 26, July 10, 17, 24, 31 (6 weeks) at Palmer Park
10 a.m. – 11 a.m

Learn how to communicate in a whole new way! This 6-week beginner session will take a creative approach to learning finger spelling, colors and numbers, introductions, days of the week, time and expressing feelings. Enjoy trying something new this summer together and learn ASL through fun games with the whole family! This course also includes ASL grammar and sentence structure. Registration deadline: June 12.

Beginning Uke

(All Ages Welcome)
Mondays, June, 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23 (6 weeks) at Palmer Park
7 – 7:30 p.m.

This popular class is returning for anyone who has a ukulele and would like to learn correct instrument handling, playing chords and basic music/chart reading. This half hour class will put you on track to a lifetime of music enjoyment.

C.S.I. Camp I

(Grades: 3rd Grade Completed – 5th Grade Completed)
Monday – Thursday, July 9 – July 12 at Palmer Park
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Students will take part in a CSI – style Forensic Camp where they will try to figure out crimes by using clues and detailed observations. Students will identify and collect evidence from fingerprints, tracks and more. Make-and-take home projects each day.
Registration deadline: July 2
Course taught by retired St. Clair County Sheriff Deputy Cyndy King.

C.S.I. Camp II

(Grades: 3rd Grade Completed – 7th Grade Completed)
Monday – Thursday, July 16 – July 19 at Palmer Park
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This is a CSI II Forensics Camp for those students who have taken and graduated from CSI I. This class will display more complex crime scenes and the evidence collecting will be more advanced and challenging. Make-and-take home projects each day.

Junior Recreators Program

(Ages: 12 – 15yrs)

Are you 12 – 15 years old and looking for something different to do this summer? With the help of the Dr. James C. Acheson Foundation, we have an opportunity for you to learn job skills and help our community while earning rewards and having fun through this volunteer program. Your first step is to come to the Palmer Park Recreation Center and complete the Junior Recreator application by May 1. Once the application is complete, a meeting will be scheduled with you and your parents to set up your summer

MI Great Lakes Art Series


Playground Program

(Ages: 6 – 12yrs)
Monday – Thursday, June 25 – July 26 at both Roosevelt Elementary and Sanborn Park
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Join in the fun at our local playgrounds! These outdoor programs are structured to motivate kids to get outside and play at a playground near you! Your child will have fun outside with themed games, activities and crafts. Lunch is included each day of the program. A parent or parent-identified trusted adult is responsible for signing children in and out each day. Hey kids, plan to enjoy your summer days playing outside! Fort Gratiot kids feel free to join our Sanborn location while construction continues at north end schools. Program will include two field trips and weekly swimming at Court Street Pool. Scholarships are available. (No program on July 4)

Resident: $25, Non-Resident: $50 – You must come into Palmer Park to register for this program (located at 2829 Armour, Port Huron).

(Ages: 4 – 10yrs)

Parents, bring your child and join us for a fun hour of games, crafts and a snack. This is a great way to spend your afternoon at our new Splash Pad! Program will cancel in case of inclement weather.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. (No Program July 6)

Sprout City

(Ages: 3 – 11yrs)
Mondays, June 25, July 9, 16, 23, 30 at Palmer Park
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Come out and see what our amazing new “Sprout City” nature park and bike path is all about! Our volunteers will be on site with bins full of fun things to turn up the play. Bring your own bike helmet if you would like to use one of our tricycles or scooters. In case of inclement weather, this program will cancel.

Summer Dance Camp

Try out our mini dance season to see how much you will enjoy our
25 week program, which begins in the fall! Each week we will have fun practicing routines and learning dance techniques.

Beginning Theatre Workshop

(Grades: 3rd – 7th)
Monday – Friday, June 18 – June 22
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

We are excited to be partnering with the Port Huron Area School District to offer this week long program which will showcase various aspects of theatre such as: choreography, vocal technique and acting skills. Students will receive a role the first day and begin working on a full play script. Instruction will be by experienced youth mentoring younger thespians. All classes and the performance will take place at PHHS Performing Arts Center. Director: Renee Barr. Registration deadline: June 4

Advanced Theatre Workshop

(Grades: 8th – 12th)
Monday – Friday, June 25 – 29
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Here is your chance to participate in a week long program geared toward our older youth who love theatre. Scripts and roles will be given out the first day as we work toward a full scale production. All classes and the performance will take place at Port Huron Northern High School Performing Arts Center, thanks to our partnership with Port Huron Area Schools. Instructed by Renee Barr. Toddler Time

(Ages: 1 – 5yrs)
Fridays, June 22, 29, July 13, 20, 27 at Dulhut Village Green
11 – 11:45 a.m.

Parents, come outside with your toddler and join us for a fun time of socialization, games, art projects and snacks.
