Fall Registration opens after Labor Day for the following programs:

Family Nature Club

Session I: Sept. 14, Session II: Oct. 12, Session III: Nov. 9

1 – 2:30 p.m.
Sanborn Park
All Ages (projects geared for preschool and school-aged children)

This fun new program is brought to us by The Friends of the St. Clair River organization. We will have fun exploring wildlife close to home while nurturing a love of nature. As this is a family event, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Program is entirely outdoors, so please dress for the weather. In case of inclement weather (lightning, high winds, heavy rain), programs will be cancelled. Families will be contacted by afternoon the day before if class is cancelled.
Registration closes 2 days prior to each date.

Per Session: Resident: $5 per person, Non-Resident: $10 per person
All 3 Sessions: Resident: $15 per person, Non-Resident: $30 per person

Beach Pebble Art Class


Wednesdays, October 2, 9, 16
4 – 5 p.m.
Ages 7 & up

During the first class, collect treasures at Lighthouse Beach for creating your own unique pebble art! We will assemble our pictures onto frames for our second class. For the final class we will complete our artwork and set up a fun gallery so friends and family can come view our masterpieces! First class meets at Lighthouse Beach, other classes meet at Palmer Park. (Locations may change due to inclement weather). Registration Deadline: September 25

Dance Classes

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are lacking a dance instructor for this year. Because of this, we are unable to offer a dance program. We hope to offer dance again in the future. If you or someone you know is interested in being a dance instructor for the recreation department, please contact our office at 810-984-9760.
The Gift of Giving

Ages 3 – 5yrs Wednesday, December 4 from 3 – 4 p.m.
Ages 6 – 12yrs Wednesday, December 4 from 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.

Why not surprise your loved ones this holiday season with special gifts hand-made by your little ones. We will make two different items for your family and friends to enjoy while teaching your children the joy of giving.
Program is held at Palmer Park.

Kids Cook-Off

Open your surprise ingredient box to create your winning dish! Whether it’s an appetizer, entrée, or dessert, you will have a delicious time exploring your inner chef. (Parents are welcome to observe without helping.)

Pumpkin Critters - Ages 5 & up

You’ll have so much fun making your own masked pumpkins to celebrate the season! Each person will make an adorable cat and dog.

If you own a ukulele and would like to learn the basics of playing, then this popular six week class is returning to help you! Classes include correct handling, chord strumming, and basic music chart reading. The first half of each class works on technique, the second half focuses on learning songs. Instructed by professional musician: Micki LePla.

Winter Wreath Workshop

Make this beautiful pine cone wreath to adorn your front door throughout the holiday and winter season. Your first class includes planning your wreath and painting your pine cones. Second class will involve putting it all together.
