Registration is at the Palmer Park Recreation Center. Cash, check, credit or debit card is accepted. Checks are made payable to the City of Port Huron. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Mailed registration forms are processed at the end of the day that they are received. Mailed registrations are not guaranteed until an email/mail/phone call confirmation is received from the Recreation Department.
If a program is canceled, you will receive a full refund. Participants who cancel classes will receive a credit voucher (good for one year) for the value of their class.
In cooperation with Burtchville Township, Clyde Township, Fort Gratiot Township, and Port Huron Township, their residents have been afforded the City of Port Huron Residents’ Rate.

Beginner Swim Lessons for Older Children
This program is for children over 6 years of age who are fearful of the water and have little or no swimming ability. This small group class will focus primarily on building the water safety skills necessary to remain safe in and around the water. The group will work on becoming comfortable in the aquatic environment, gain knowledge about water safety and build skills such as floating, kicking and paddling.

All children are welcome in all of our swim lessons offered. This sensory swim program is specifically designed for children with special needs. This developmental swim program provides a positive outlook and emphasis on the strengths and unique attributes of each swimmer. Our program focuses on water education, developing water safety and swimming skills. The program is customized for each child’s emotional and developmental abilities, with the goal to help each child become physically active, build self-confidence and self esteem, learn the life-saving skill of swimming, and eventually to offer them another avenue for integration.

TRY scuba!! Come see if scuba is right for you. An instructor from DIVE INN Watersports will bring equipment and give prospective students an introduction to scuba diving in a controlled environment under the direct supervision of an insured instructor.

DIVE INN Watersports offers the finest scuba course available anywhere. You’ll meet for approximately 20 hours of class and pool instruction before doing your open water dives needed for certification. You’ll receive a book package which includes your textbook, workbook, record folder, and video.
Students between the ages of 10 to 14 may obtain a Restricted Scuba Diver Certification which means they must dive under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or other active certified diver. Upon reaching the age of 15, a Restricted Scuba Diver can upgrade to an Open Water Scuba Diver certification and participate in all levels of training offered by SDI. Students must complete 4 open water dives with an instructor demonstrating mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution. Upon successful completion of both the classroom and open water training, you will receive your Open Water Certification card.

Lap swim will be offered for adults Monday through Friday mornings from 7–8 am. There will be experienced coaching staff on hand to help create personalized workouts, or give helpful tips and hints for stroke development. Swim at your own pace or as part of a group! We’ve also mapped out a Triathlon course! You can choose from a Sprint or Intermediate Triathlon to attempt at your own pace. We’ll reserve the pool lanes and provide training tips!

Group swim lessons are offered for beginning adult and teen swimmers age 16 and older. You will develop fundamental swimming skills including kicking skills, and front and back float. Each lesson is 30 minutes long. Develop a physical ability you’ll enjoy and use to stay healthy for life.
