American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

The City of Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department is offering an American Red Cross lifeguard certification training for individuals who are anticipating employment as a lifeguard.

About the Course

Where: June 3-5 at Marysville High School, June 6 at Rec Center, and June 7-8 at Sanborn Pool

Ages: 15 or older

rate: $300

When: June 3-6 from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with this American Red Cross lifeguard training. designed to equip students with skills and knowledge to prepare for a variety of scenarios in and around the water, our lifeguard training teaches how quick response times and effective preparation are vital. Students will learn crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries. 

 

This course includes a lifeguard manual, CPR mask, instruction, and practical and written exams.

Participants must bring a bathing suit, towel, water bottle, dry clothing for classroom activities, and snacks (if needed).

Those planning to work for the Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department are exempt from the course payment if they sign a contract to work the 2024 summer season at our city owned pools, Court St. Pool and/or Sanborn Pool.

 

Applications, for those interested in working for the Port Huron Recreation Department as a lifeguard, are available at www.porthuronrec.com/employment. Applications may be returned to the Palmer Park Recreation Center located at 2829 Armour St..
