In September of 2023, the City of Port Huron Recreation Department announced the idea of a new addition to the department–Discovery City Children’s Museum. Nearly a year later, and with quick execution, Discovery City Children’s Museum is now open to the public.
The 8,000-square-foot building, located at 317 Grand River Ave. in downtown Port Huron, features hands-on and nature-inspired exhibits, such as an interactive ball wall, naturescape with natural elements including live plants and fish, water table, tree house, gem table, animated sandbox and more. Children will meet the Michigan early learning standards through adventurous play while exploring these exhibits.
Discovery City is recommended for ages one to 10. Children under the age of one are free to attend. Admission into Discovery City is $7 per visitor. Discounts for EBT/WIC, senior citizens, military, first responders, school personnel and Michigan Activity Pass holders are available. Museum memberships may also be purchased.
The Museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. Regular museum hours are...
Tuesday: 12-6 p.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday: 12-6 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday: 12-4 p.m.
The community welcomed the addition of Discovery City into downtown Port Huron at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 15 celebrating the grand opening of the Museum. Miss Michelle, of Wonder Wolf Entertainment, painted faces from 1-3 p.m. and the Palmer Park Recreation Center gifted 50 free passes to use at the Museum from 2-6 p.m. on this exciting day.
