Trick or treat with the Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department at the Halloween Stroll

Dress in costume and walk through the Port Huron Recreation Department’s trick-or-treating Halloween Stroll event Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022.

The annual stroll begins at 10 a.m. with staggered participation every 30 minutes until 12:30 p.m.. Adults and children may walk through a predetermined route in Sanborn Park, located at 1919 Sanborn St. in Port Huron.

“We are excited to have the Halloween Stroll back at Sanborn Park for 2022. For the past two years we moved location to Desmond Landing near the Blue Water River Walk to accommodate vehicles driving through the Stroll as a precaution to COVID-19, but we missed having the Halloween Stroll at Sanborn Park. Sanborn Park is a better location for this event and it’s fun to walk through the woods to each Halloween station. It’s a more interactive experience in a fall atmosphere. The woods help to provide a better Halloween setting, especially with the leaves changing colors,” said Kati Gardner, co-supervisor of the Port Huon Recreation Department and the event coordinator of the Halloween Stroll.

Along the stroll, participants will encounter Halloween inflatables and scenes, music, donuts and a petting zoo. Children will receive candy or treats from participating local businesses and organizations as they walk the route. In addition, children and adults may ride in a mini train that loops around Sanborn Park at no additional cost.

All ages are welcome to join the fun, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration is required to participate. Participants who preregister by Friday, Oct. 28 will receive a discounted rate.

  • Pre-registered resident: $8

  • Pre-registered nonresidents: $10

  • Day of event, resident and nonresident: $12

Only those collecting candy must register. Registration is available at www.porthuronrec.com/events/halloween-stroll-2022 or in person at the Palmer Park Recreation Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In cooperation with Burtchville Township, Clyde Township, Fort Gratiot Township, and Port Huron Township, their residents have been afforded the City of Port Huron’s resident rate for recreation programs and events due to a collaboration with the City of Port Huron.

Sanborn Park is located at 1919 Sanborn St. in Port Huron. On-site parking is available.

The Halloween Stroll is sponsored by Fort Gratiot CSL Plasma, Fort Gratiot Great Clips and Union Properties LLC.
